Lakes Ice Arena COVID-19 Plan

1. Practices 

a. Parents must maintain social distance in lobby area and wear mask if in the arena during practice. 

b. Parents of children age Squirt and above strongly recommended to drop off child for practice without entering the building.  Practices can be viewed via Live Barn feed with a monthly subscription: https://www.lakesareahockey.com/livebarn

c. Parents of players below Squirt level requested that no more than one parent attend a practice. 


2. Games

a. Live stream attendance/participation encouraged via a monthly subscription at: https://www.lakesareahockey.com/livebarn

b. Players arrive 20 to 30 minutes prior to game

c. No congregating in arena before the game; spectators may enter 10 minutes prior to game time

d. Face coverings will be mandatory for all (players, coaches, referees and fans) upon entering or leaving the building.  Once players and referees go to the playing surface, they will be allowed to remove their face covering.

e.     If more than 10 people in attendance, six feet distancing between groups should be maintained

f. Referees should remain 6 feet from all when possible (especially after a whistle) 

g. Only two adults per player, per team, will be allowed in attendance at games.  Must wear mask at all times. 

h. Coaches will be masked while in the arena. 

i. Players stay on the bench in between periods -- do not go to locker rooms.

j. Parents/spectators immediately exit building after game and wait for child in car.  

k. Players exit building after game (within 15 minutes after game).

l. Scheduling -- allow time for disinfecting between games


3. Open Skate

a. Guests will be routed upon entering the lobby thru admissions and then into the ice area to put skates on, away from the lobby traffic

b. Guests may wait in the mezzanine if room in the lobby is not available

c. Masks required in lobby area and while putting on skates

d. Masks required in other areas of arena if more than 25 people in attendance 

e. Open Skate Supervisor shall limit the number of attendees in the building at her discretion if social distancing remains no longer possible 

f. Schedule of Open Skate:

g. Friday + Saturday:  7p - 9p

h. Sunday: Noon-1:30p (November - March) 

i. Sanitize after open skate


4. Mezzanine 

a. Social distance and must wear mask 


5. Lobby

a. Areas to be marked for flow of traffic/use retractable belt dividers to create flow for traffic   


6. Locker Rooms

a. Allowed to use for practices in Coach’s discretion

b. Allowing a team to use 2 locker rooms for spacing purposes

c. Sanitized after a team leaves. Done by the coaches or parent/older kids assigned to spray the area.

d. Consider dressing young kids at home prior to arrival  


7. Bathrooms 

a. No more than 2 people at a time policy 


8. Concession Stand  

a. Will be selling new pre-packaged foods for the season 

b. Maximum staff working in concession stand is two at a time

c. Require staff/volunteers to wear masks while working

d. Have hand sanitizer available to use between every encounter 

e. Encourage the use of credit or debit card.


9. Scoreboard table

a. Sanitized between games

a. The best practice is one assigned adult will be responsible for clock and scorebook with nobody else allowed in the area. It is acceptable to have two individuals at the table if they are from the same household. Masks should be worn at all times. Masks also need to be worn by penalty box attendees at all times. 


10. Tournaments

a. COVID related cancellations will result in a full refund to teams so long as the team has not participated by playing in a game during the tournament.

b. Allow time for sanitizing in between games.

c. Follow above procedures.
